Parent and Caregiver Guidance
Utilizing the Circle of Security parenting program and Child Parent Psychotherapy
The Circle of Security (COS) parenting program is an evidence-based intervention grounded in attachment theory, focusing on enhancing the parent-child relationship and promoting secure attachment.
COS provides caregivers with tools and strategies to recognize and respond to their child's emotional needs effectively, fostering a sense of security and trust in the relationship.
Key concepts in COS include exploring the balance between providing comfort and supporting exploration, recognizing and interpreting the child's cues for connection and autonomy, and strengthening the parent-child bond to create a secure base for the child's exploration of the world.
Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention aimed at enhancing the parent-child relationship and supporting both the child's and the parent's emotional well-being.
CPP focuses on the dynamic interplay between a child's behavior and their caregiver's responses, addressing attachment-related issues and struggles related to trauma and loss.
I am a trained Circle of Security parenting facilitator through Circle of Security International, as well as a trained Child Parent Psychotherapy provider through Child Parent Psychotherapy. I utilize these modalities in working with parents and caregivers to strengthen their relationships with their children, with an emphasis on parenting after trauma and loss.
CPP integrates elements of psychotherapy, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care to help parents understand their child's needs, process their own experiences, both in childhood and in parenting, and develop more nurturing and responsive caregiving behaviors.
